Another Boy Scout

Sam's Crossover Ceremony

 Pledging for his Tote-n-Chit
 Words of Wisdom
 OA Ceremony Team

Thanks Dwain for your time, patience and wisdom.
I know the boys have grown better for having known you.

cub scouts crossover

Dan crossed over into bears (seems impossible, wasn't Sam just a bear?!)
He earned his Leave No Trace patch, as well as World Conservation

Sam is in his last year of cubs...he's working on WeBeLo 2...
The girls set up a surprise celebration for them when we got home...so sweet!

Pinewood Derby

This weekend wasn't too busy, all of our stuff was canceled on Friday, and then Saturday was the Pinewood Derby. The girls stayed with friends, and Josh and Bre stayed home, so we only had four kids. Practically a date lol!          ;-)
Dan's 'Horsepower'
Ava sold girl scout cookies for the girls, isn't she cute?
I don't think Sam named his car, it was pretty cool.
Just like him

Flag Ceremony for the state PTA convention

Dan's first official event as a tiger...the boys did GREAT. I was really proud to see how seriously they took the ceremony...

4x4 picture tag

1. Open the fourth picture folder on your computer
2. Select the fourth picture in the folder
3. Post the picture to your blog & explain the picture
4. Tag 4 people to do the same

this picture is of Josh hiking with his patrol. it's actually one of my favorites because he was the youngest scout, this was his first long hike as well as his first sleeping hike. 22 miles and two or three nights packing his stuff. i wasn't there, dh was his partner for that one, but i heard it was pretty hard on j, as well as everyone who was in hearing range! but look at the older scouts helping him down the rock...isn't that awesome? they never once complained or told him to suck it up. they encouraged him, built  him up, and showed their true character...i love fox patrol...

Family day at scout camp...

Sam spent last week in day camp at Camp Kickapoo (and I'm kicking myself for not asking the girls to take the camera to THEIR camp the week before). Anyway, the last day was family day, wherein we get to sweat it out like the boys did. At least the girls got to swim every day!

lining up for closing flag ceremony...
Dwain, their fearless leader
Sam and his stick. He did it with the help of Josh's friend.
Getting his 'CSI' badge (cub scout investigator)
sheesh he's cute...

I've got a wolf in my house!

Sam's crossover ceremony was this week, and I was thrilled to see how excited he was. And a little weepy to think how much the guys have done and learned this year. I spent eight years avoiding being a leader, and I have to admit I've probably walked away with more this year than the boys have. I'm so grateful for the opportunity. The hard part now will be whether I stay with my guys, or go back to tiger cubs to help Dan as he joins scouting. He has wanted to be a scout since he was old enough to know Josh was going someplace special. LOL!

Crafts completed...

I didn't share pictures of the final products, huh?
I'm bad that way. teehee

Sam's recipe card holder, it's got a picture of my nephew right now
Rachel's scary sign for her doll "House of Terror"
And Dan's key holder. The picture does not do it justice
It's bright orange really.
With black on the sides. Sorry

Boy Scout family campout

Twice a year the pack/troop has a family campout, open to everyone. Not just moms and dads, but baby brothers, big sisters, granpas and granmas....and it's always at the Wichita Wildlife Reserve!
Sam's first campout as a wolf cub!

The Campsite
Josh was a temporary leader of this gang of cute guys
He had a great time...and apparently lotsa good food.
Why *I* do not go to family campouts...

It is absolutely gorgeous, and we hike as a family here
Not a lot of girls there this time, so this picture of Rachel was rather fitting
