With arms wide open...

The day before my dad's surgery, I decided to stay home from the hospital. Most of this was because I hadn't seen the kids much the two days before, and part of it was for MY mental health. It's hard to see your hero so weak and I knew the following day would be even worse.
Anyway, that was the day we had the picnic, and even though it was chilly, it wasn't as cold as it is TODAY...and so I share the record of it.
The girls brought out their radio, and I can't really describe the feelings I had sitting in the sunshine, watching them play. But when the radio began to play Arms Wide Open, and Avari danced, I just snapped picture after picture after picture. She's so free, unhindered...unschooled from birth she just lives her life with no fears, no recriminations, and full of the expectation that, I, at least, will love her unconditionally.
And so...on to my Ava

With arms wide open...
under the sunlight
welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I'll show you LOVE
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
If I had just one wish
only one demand
I hope he's not like me
I hope he understands
that he can take this life
hold it by the hand
and he can greet the world
with arms wide open
